Week 13: Exploring Ephesians 3-6 and Philippians 1

In week 13 of our quest to read the New Testament in a year, we will read Ephesians 2-6 and Philippians 1.

Ephesians 3-6

As we conclude the book of Ephesians, we will delve into the mystery of Christ, examining its significance, the unity it fosters among believers, and how to live out its implications. Paul emphasizes the importance of embracing this new life and aligning our conduct with God’s principles rather than human standards.

Ephesians 4:22-24 (ESV)

A central theme in Paul’s teachings is love. He offers practical advice for essential relationships, including those between husband and wife, parent and child, and master and servant. By emphasizing love, Paul provides a framework for nurturing these relationships in a manner that reflects Christ’s teachings.

Ephesians 5:1-2 (ESV)

Additionally, Paul provides us with vital tools for embodying these principles: the full armor of God. This armor is crucial for withstanding challenges and staying true to our Christian calling.

Philippians 1

We will then begin Paul’s letter to the Philippians. In this epistle, Paul encourages the Philippians to maintain their joy and perseverance despite his imprisonment.

Philippians 1:3-5 (ESV)

Paul acknowledges their concern for him and reassures them that their support and faith are vital in advancing the gospel message. He stresses that what truly matters is the proclamation of Christ and remaining steadfast in the gospel, rather than focusing on external circumstances. This focus ensures that the message of Christ remains central to their lives, no matter the trials they face.

Philippians 1:19-20 (ESV)
