A Prayer for Meekness

A Prayer for Meekness

A Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are a God of unmatched power and authority, yet you are gentle and humble in heart. You reign over all creation with perfect justice, and you invite us to walk in your ways of humility and grace. You value meekness, not as weakness, but as strength under your control, and you promise a rich inheritance to those who embrace it.

I confess that meekness is not always my first response. I am quick to assert my rights, defend my pride, and seek recognition for myself. Too often, I confuse humility with weakness and fear losing control if I surrender fully to you. Please forgive my arrogance and my tendency to resist your call to gentleness.

Thank you for your perfect example of meekness, displayed in Jesus, who humbled himself to the point of death for our sake. Thank you for valuing and blessing those who are meek, promising them the inheritance of your kingdom. I am grateful that your strength is made perfect in my weakness, and that you work through humility to bring about your purposes.

Lord, help me to grow in meekness. Teach me to trust in your power rather than my own and to respond to others with gentleness and grace, even when I am wronged. Transform my heart so that I seek your approval above the approval of others. May my meekness be a reflection of Jesus, pointing others to your love and glory.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Matthew 5:5 (ESV): Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
