Read the Bible in a Year: Week 12 – Romans 13-16 and Judges 1-18

During week 12 of reading through the Bible in a year, we will finish the book of Romans and begin the book of Judges.

Romans: Christian Living

Last week, in the book of Romans, we learned a lot about God’s plan for salvation. This week, we will see some practical ways that we can live out our faith in areas such as submitting to authorities, handling debt, preparing for Christ’s return, dealing with those who have weak faith, interacting with our neighbors, and dealing with divisions in the church. It is amazing that the problems that Christians encountered 2000 years ago are still so applicable to us!

Judges: Persistent Rebellion

While the book of Romans will deal with solutions, the book of Judges will highlight that fact that people consistently cause problems. Over and over, throughout the book of Judges, we will see people who choose to sin and rebel against God. God will allow them to face some consequences, but will then raise up a judge, or leader, to save them. Unfortunately, each time God chooses to show grace and mercy by saving his people, they choose to do something even worse than the time before. It is really sad, but it reminds us that no matter how much love God shows for his people, we tend to still find ways to reject him and rebel against him. It is only through Jesus that we can break this vicious cycle!
