Continuing to read through the Bible in a year, week 10 brings us into the more cheerful part of the book of Isaiah. After 39 chapters of gloom, doom, warnings, and prophesies of destruction, the book transitions into God’s plan to redeem the Israelites. This week, we will start with chapter 42, which predicts that Jesus will be a servant who is filled with the Holy Spirit. This prophesy is later fulfilled in Matthew 12:17-21. The book will continue with hope, inspiration, and a few warnings until we get to chapter 53. Dealing with Jesus’ death and resurrection, this chapter is the best known chapter in all of Isaiah and should really be pondered upon. In the last half of the week, we will read about the need to seek the Lord, repent from sin, and gain salvation. This selection will end with more prophesies about Jesus and a warning against grieving the Holy Spirit. There will only be 3 more chapters to read next week!
