A Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I reflect on the third chapter of Acts, I am reminded of those who are suffering from chronic illnesses and disabilities. There are countless people who are born with these conditions or develop them later in life, and their struggles can be overwhelming. We know that you are the master healer and throughout history there have been so many miraculous healings in your name. This doesn’t seem to happen as often in our day and age, but as we wait patiently, we ask you to please renew your healing power in the world again.

Grant us the faith to believe that Jesus is the source of healing and that through Him, all things are possible. We thank you that medicines are so much better than they ever have been throughout history, but there are still so many diseases that modern medicine cannot heal. Give us the courage to seek your healing touch and to trust in your plan for our lives. May we never lose hope and patience, even in the midst of suffering.

For people with incurable and fatal diseases like late-stage cancer and various organ diseases, we ask for your hand of comfort. If it is your will, please heal those that we know with these diseases.

For people with chronic diseases like arthritis, auto-immune conditions, dementia, diabetes, and more, please be with each person and their family members. It can be so hard to live day in and day out with limitations, pain, and other problems. Over time, it can take a toll on the entire family. While we would most like a cure, we ask that you at least provide a spirit of endurance.

Similarly, for those with disabilities like blindness, deafness, missing limbs, muscular weakness, autism, and more, we pray for both the person and their caretakers.

You know the reason for each of these disabilities and ailments. We desire healthy bodies and minds, but healthy souls are even more important. If you are teaching us to depend on you, we ask that you continue that work, but if we can have both faith in you and healing, that is our preference. As we wait, please give us patience and compassion. At the right time, please provide your healing touch and bring restoration and wholeness to each person’s body, mind, and soul

We thank you for your love and compassion, and for the promise of eternal life through faith in your son, Jesus Christ.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Respond

Please pray a prayer of healing for someone that you know. Don’t just pray for their bodies, but also for their minds and souls. If helpful, you can use a prayer journal template.
