If you are reading the Bible for the first time, the best three books to start with are one of the four gospels, Genesis, and the Acts of the Apostles. The gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) will teach you about the birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus. Genesis will teach you about the beginning of the world through the establishment of the Jewish people. The Acts of the Apostles will teach you about what the apostles did after the ascension of Jesus and how the first churches were formed. Together, these will give you a really good start for knowing who Jesus is, the impact he has made on the world, and a brief history of the Jewish and Christian religions.

Last week, we read the complete book of Mark, so this week we will move onto the book of Genesis and read the first 21 chapters. Included in these chapters are the stories of creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah’s Ark, the Tower of Babel, the calling of Abraham, and Sodom and Gomorrah.
