Summary of the Passage

This passage tells the story of Jesus and ten men who were very sick. They had a skin disease that made them stay away from other people. In those days, if you had this kind of sickness, you could not live with your family or go to the temple. The ten men saw Jesus coming and called out to him from far away. They asked him to have pity on them and help them.

Jesus saw them and told them to go show themselves to the priests. In those days, the priests would check sick people to see if they were healthy again. While the men were walking to the priests, they were healed. Their skin was clean, and the sickness was gone.

One man, a Samaritan, saw that he was healed and came back to Jesus. He thanked Jesus loudly and praised God. He fell down at Jesus’ feet to show his thanks. Jesus asked where the other nine men were. Only one had come back to say thank you. Jesus told the man that his faith had made him well.

This passage teaches us about the kindness of Jesus, the power of faith, and the importance of saying thank you to God.

Jesus Heals Ten Men
11 As Jesus made his way to Jerusalem, he went along the border between Samaria and Galilee.
12 He was going into a village when he was met by ten men suffering from a dreaded skin disease. They stood at a distance and shouted, “Jesus! Master! Have pity on us!”
14 Jesus saw them and said to them, “Go and let the priests examine you.”
On the way they were made clean.
15 When one of them saw that he was healed, he came back, praising God in a loud voice.
16 He threw himself to the ground at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. The man was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus spoke up, “There were ten who were healed; where are the other nine?
18 Why is this foreigner the only one who came back to give thanks to God?”
19 And Jesus said to him, “Get up and go; your faith has made you well.”
