A Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
You are the God who brings light into darkness, the one who does not abandon your children when the way is unclear or the road is frightening. You are faithful and wise, never surprised by the shadows that fall over my life. You see every step before I take it, and your word continues to shine with truth, even when I struggle to believe it.
Lord, I confess that in times of fear, I often forget to look to you. Instead of pausing and seeking your direction, I charge forward, determined to control my own fate. I try to manage the darkness on my own, as if I could ever bring light to the path without you. My pride convinces me that I know the way, but in reality, I am only drifting closer to danger, unaware of the lion crouching just beyond the bend.
Thank you for your patience with me—for never leaving me, even when I wander. Thank you for giving me your word as a guide, a lamp that reveals just enough light for the next step. Thank you for the countless times you have protected me from what I could not see and for leading me gently back when I have strayed.
Father, I ask you to be near when the darkness settles in. Shine your truth clearly and unmistakably when I am unsure of the way. Strengthen my trust in you when the unknown feels overwhelming. Remind me that you are able to free me from any danger or bind the fiercest enemy. And even if you allow the lion to remain, help me remember in faith that your path is still good and that your purpose will prevail.
More than anything, I ask that you walk with me. Whether the road is smooth or broken, bright or shadowed, let your presence be my comfort. Keep me close, steady my steps, and shape my heart to trust in your perfect will.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
