A Prayer for Endurance in Persecution

A Prayer for Endurance in Persecution

A Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are sovereign and just, ruling over all with wisdom and mercy. Nothing escapes your sight, and you see the struggles of those who suffer for the sake of righteousness. From the prophets of old to the early church to believers today, you have sustained your people through trials, giving them courage to stand firm in their faith. You promise that those who endure persecution for your sake will inherit the kingdom of heaven, and I trust in your unfailing word.

I confess that I often fear rejection, criticism, or hardship when standing for what is right. I want to be bold in my faith, yet at times I shrink back to avoid conflict. Forgive me for the moments when I prioritize comfort over conviction, approval over obedience. Strengthen my heart so that I will not be ashamed of the gospel but will proclaim your truth with both love and courage.

Thank you for the example of Jesus, who endured suffering and rejection to bring salvation to the world. Thank you for the faithfulness of those who have gone before me, who stood firm in the face of opposition and remained steadfast in their devotion to you. I am grateful that you never abandon your people, but that you walk with us through every trial.

Lord, give me endurance when I face opposition for following you. When I am ridiculed, help me respond with grace. When I am excluded or mistreated, remind me that I am not alone. Fill me with the joy that comes from knowing that my reward is not in this world but in your kingdom. Help me to pray for those who oppose me, to love those who hate me, and to trust that you will use even my suffering for your glory. May my life be a testimony to your faithfulness, no matter the cost.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Matthew 5:10 (ESV): Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
