A Prayer for a Pure Heart

A Prayer for a Pure Heart

A Prayer

Matthew 5:8 (ESV): Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are holy and pure, perfect in all your ways. There is no darkness in you, no deceit, no sin—only righteousness and truth. You see beyond outward appearances and look directly into the heart. You desire purity, not just in our actions but in our thoughts, desires, and motives. You promise that those who are pure in heart will see you, and I long for that closeness with you.

I confess that my heart is often divided. I am easily distracted by selfish ambitions, impure thoughts, and worldly desires. I seek approval from others rather than from you, and I allow sin to take root where only your truth should dwell. Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have let my heart be clouded by sin instead of fully devoted to you.

Thank you for your grace that cleanses and renews. Thank you for the sacrifice of Jesus, who washes away my sins and makes it possible for me to stand before you. I am grateful that I do not have to purify my own heart, but that you are the one who refines and transforms me through your Spirit.

Lord, create in me a clean heart. Remove anything that keeps me from seeing you clearly. Give me a heart that desires what is good, that delights in your truth, and that is undivided in its devotion to you. Help me to reject sin, to walk in integrity, and to pursue holiness in both my private and public life. Let my heart be a reflection of your purity, so that others may see you through me.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Psalm 51:10 (ESV): Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
