A Prayer for Righteousness

A Prayer for Righteousness

A Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are righteous and holy, perfect in all your ways. Your justice is pure, your truth is unshakable, and your mercy is boundless. You are the source of all goodness, and you call us to seek your holy righteousness. You promise that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied, and we know that true satisfaction is found only in you.

I confess that I often crave the things of this world more than I seek your righteousness. I hunger for comfort, success, and recognition, while neglecting the deeper fulfillment that comes from living according to your will. Forgive me for being distracted by temporary desires and for failing to prioritize the pursuit of your kingdom.

Thank you for your promise to satisfy those who long for righteousness. Thank you for the gift of Jesus, who not only demonstrated perfect righteousness but also made a way for us to be made right with you. I am grateful that you provide for our spiritual hunger, filling us with your word, your Spirit, and your presence.

Lord, create in me a deep hunger and thirst for your righteousness. Help me to desire your truth, your justice, and your perfect holiness. Strengthen me to live according to your ways, even when it is difficult or unpopular. Satisfy my soul with your presence, and use me to bring your righteousness into the world around me.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Matthew 5:6 (ESV): Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Psalm 42:1-2 (ESV): As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
