A Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are the God of all comfort, who draws near to the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. You are compassionate and full of mercy, offering peace to those who grieve and hope to those who despair. In your presence, we find rest for our souls and the assurance that our sorrow will not last forever.
I confess that I often struggle to bring my pain and mourning to you. Instead, I try to carry my burdens alone or numb my sorrow in ways that do not honor you. I also admit that I sometimes fail to mourn the brokenness of my sin or the pain in the world around me. Please forgive me for not turning to you in my grief and for failing to reflect your heart for what is broken.
Thank you for your promise that those who mourn will be comforted. Thank you for your unfailing presence in times of sorrow and for the hope you offer through Jesus. I am grateful that you understand our pain and meet us with kindness and healing.
Lord, I ask you to comfort all who are mourning today—whether from loss, hardship, or the weight of their sin. Be their refuge and strength, and surround them with your peace. Help me to trust in your promises when I grieve and to mourn in a way that draws me closer to you. Teach me to be a source of comfort and compassion for others, reflecting your love in their times of need.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
