A Prayer for Being Faithful

A Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are always faithful, always steadfast in your promises and unchanging in your love. Your word assures us that your faithfulness endures through all generations. You remain true even when we falter. You are a covenant-keeping God who never fails to fulfill what you have promised.

I confess that I often struggle with faithfulness. My heart is prone to wander, distracted by the things of this world and weighed down by doubt and fear. I fail to consistently seek you in prayer and neglect to live out my faith in daily obedience. Please forgive me for my unfaithfulness and help me to fix my eyes on you, the author and perfecter of my faith.

Thank you for your unwavering faithfulness to me. Thank you for your presence in both the joys and trials of life and for the many ways you show your care and provision. I am grateful for the example of Jesus, who was perfectly faithful in his obedience to you, even to the point of death on the cross.

Lord, I ask you to help me grow in faithfulness. Strengthen my trust in you and give me the resolve to walk in your ways. Teach me to be faithful in my relationships, my commitments, and my witness to the world. Let my life be a reflection of your faithfulness, so that others may see your goodness and come to know you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

  • Adoration: Praise God. Does this topic bring any specific characteristics of God to mind?
  • Confession: Tell God that you are sorry for specific sins. Does this topic bring any specific sins to mind?
  • Thankfulness: Show gratitude towards God. Does anything from this topic inspire gratitude?
  • Supplication: Make requests for yourself and for others. Does anything from this topic inspire a prayer?

A Prayer for Being Faithful
Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV): "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
Isaiah 53:6 (ESV): All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Psalm 119:10 (ESV): With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!
Hebrews 12:1-2 (ESV): Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Proverbs 3:3-4 (ESV): Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.
1 Corinthians 4:1-2 (ESV): This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
