A Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are the God of peace, the one who calms the storms of our lives and speaks stillness to anxious hearts. Your word reminds us that you give us a peace that surpasses all understanding, a peace that guards our hearts and minds. You are the Prince of Peace, and your presence brings harmony and rest to a troubled world.
I confess that I often allow my heart to be overwhelmed by worry and fear. Recent events in America have not helped this situation! Instead of trusting in your perfect plan, I use my anxious mind to try to take control, to fix every situation, which often only leads to more unrest and distress. I let conflicts, uncertainties, and distractions rob me of the peace you freely offer. Please forgive me for not fully trusting in your promises and for seeking peace in the wrong places.
Thank you for the peace you offer through your Spirit and for the assurance that you are always with me. Thank you for the peace that comes from being reconciled to you through Jesus. Even in the midst of life’s continuous chaos, your peace is available to me, and I am so grateful for this constant gift. No matter how much those around me try to disturb the peace, you are greater. You may allow specific battles to be lost, but you will win the war.
Lord, I ask you to help me seek your peace daily. Calm the anxieties in my heart and teach me to rest in your presence. Help me to be a peacemaker in my relationships, reflecting your character to those around me. Let your peace rule in my heart, guiding my thoughts and actions so that I may be a witness to your love and faithfulness.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
