A Memory Verse
One of the most important themes in the Bible is that of salvation. While many people say that all paths lead to God, Acts 4:12 clearly contradicts this statement and should be memorized to reinforce this understanding.
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
Acts 4:12 (WEB)
If you believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative word of God, then this verse says that the only path to salvation is through Jesus. The question then is, do we really need salvation? Aren’t we good enough?
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (WEB)
Romans 6:23 tells us that any sin requires the death penalty. Is there a human that has never sinned even once in their life? None of us are good enough! The only perfect person that I can think of is Jesus. Isn’t it great that this verse also tells us that Jesus is the answer and that he can give us eternal life?
For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
John 3:16-17 (WEB)
When we read the crux of the gospel message in John 3:16-17, we see even more evidence that the world is under a cloud of condemnation. Fortunately, this is paired with a loving God who has a solution. The punishment for our sins is death, but Jesus took our punishment and gives us eternal life and salvation instead.
